K Session with ESEians

Quite a number turned up at K Box Clementi. Think there is around 14 people altogether?? In the end, they have to upgrade our room not once but twice!! Wow~ Our final room is so big that we have a projector overhead with a super big screen!!! And we got two plug-in mikes and two wireless mikes to sing with!! Cool!! Got so high in the end that we started singing all the 劲爆 songs!! 孙悟空,High High High and Get High. Wa...Sing until I seh~ Hope there is such activities again in the future~

ESE 2401 Water Science & Technology

Evil, evil lecturer, how he wish to destroy us all. Quite stun by the questions asked in the papers. In the end, I am only quite sure for my answers in Q1 only. For Q2, I shall leave it up to the marker to decipher if my answers can be awarded any marks. Q3 wise, only half done. Q4?? Haha, attempted to write in some formulas and hope that can be awarded marks. All in all, around 22 marks undone. Since everyone scored for CA, and I think the civil guys are killed by Q1 as they don't have exposure to these kind of questions, unlike us who have ESE2001 and CN2116 (wow!! CN 2116 can be helpful for once!! I am amazed!!)... Estimated: B+
.
So that put my estimated semester CAP at 3.375.
Another semester improved, hopefully. 3 semesters in a row posting improving results, how long can I last??

CN2116 Chemical kinetics and Reactor Designs

What can I say.... This was an absolute horrendous paper, a total killer!! Of the whole paper, almost 70% of the questions I don't even know what they are asking, or how to even get started in attempting to solve for the answers. Even worse, after writing 3 essays this morning, my brain is already half gone. As a result, the afternoon attempted mugging cannot get anything inside my puny brain. Thus, after attempting 10 questions for the paper, adding in the fact of mind fatigue and feeling sian that I don't know how to do the questions, I started dozing off........ Win liao!! I managed to slap myself awake only after like 10 minutes?? *Argzz* Now that I know, 25 MCQs really can take you 150 minutes to do!! You must really sit there, think hard and try to shade the most logical answers given on the paper. *sigh* Totally flunk this paper, no hope of getting anything above C+. Factoring in the fact that my CA is really CMI.... Estimated: C

SSA 2202 Changing Landscape of Singapore

Well, though I have already S/U this module, but I still spend considerable time preparing for it. Some people might say that S/U already no need to prepare, confirm will get S one, but I beg to differ. We are required to write 3 essays in 2 hours this time, thanks god, unlike my previous semester arts gem, we had to write 4 essays in 2 hours!! If you never attempt or flunk one of the questions in the essay, there is every chance that you might end up with a U, as proven last semester by me!! Well, though I did not get a U grade, but was almost there. Didn't have time to do one question (15 marks) and I end up with a C+. Hmm, well, the questions today are manageable, the questions that I chose should not be off point, so I guess I should be ok for this module. Estimated : S

CE 2183 Construction Project Management

I swear!! This paper is a KILLER!!! It is impossible to finish the whole paper, thanks to the questions set that was so time consuming to do, and time (150 minutes) that was so limited in the first place. Left Q3 (21 marks) undone, with Q2 (10 marks) that I confirmed wrong. A grand total of 31 marks gone up in smoke! I feel so screwed now! *sigh* Tomorrow I have two other paper, SSA in the morning and CN in the evening, think that I am going to be drowned alive for the CN with no hopes of getting a B and above. Due to the unreleased grades of the CA components, I really have no feeling how I will fare for this paper. (Optimistically) Estimated: B

ESE 2001 Environmental Processes

Tragedy... A big Tragedy..... The paper was not really that hard, in fact it looks and feel do-able to me, BUT I made the biggest mistake in my life. I took Ka = 4.7 instead of 10^-4.7! I can sense... my 15 marks flying away.... *hmm* He better give me my method marks, as I am sure I get all my method correct for that part. Estimated: B+

Company of AHSians - Sec 2E

How did I get to know these bunch of great guys, I wonder? Must be through those daily soccer sessions I had with them every day in sec 2, up until this very day, through the weekly street soccer session over the weekend whenever possible. Nice company, chit-chatting away, forgetting the exam stress temporary, fun and laughter, its all that matters. FYI, NTU, NUS are still having exams, only the SMUians have finished theirs. Though we couldn't catch any movie in the end (no choice, every movie available is left with only the first row seats, including R-21!! Its that bad!! Some more it's at ceneleisure!!), well not to worry, we settle ourselves fine over at the 香港茶餐厅. Remembering the old times, updating with each other, well, its probably the last time I am going to see them again before I disappear from Singapore. Hah~ Well, one of them is going to fly off to London, and the other is going to Phoenix next week during my exam. So sorry couldn't sent your off, but well, Bon Voyage anyway.

Wacky Weather Over the US

First, there was snow, due to a cold front coming in from the North during the spring time....
.
Next, there was rain flood and storm over in the North-east. They say that this was the most severe spring storm they have ever encountered.
.

Then, there was tornadoes in Texas, though I guess they should be used to it by now....

.

Oh my, will I see a tornado in 3 weeks time? Maybe, if the low pressure area started shifting west. Hah~

Ministerial Pay Across Asia

FACTBOX-A snapshot of ministerial pay across Asia

Got the link from Panda. People has been complaining about the widening income gap between the rich and the poor, yet our minister has got a pay hike of about 60% lately. Need I say more? Is this justifiable, after comparing with the minister pay of our neighbouring country?

Competitive, or perhaps, a hidden devil?

It has all along been in the back of my mind, subconsciously, didn't want to believe it is true, but the actions keep leading me to think otherwise.
.
Perhaps, it is due to the culture picked up during the school days in the past, where everyone is trying to outdo and outplay each other to reach the highest honour? Thus, the culture picked up is carried on till now?
Perhaps, it is due to to the innate character of the person?
Or perhaps, this is what the person is trying to do along? Pining others down, and climbing on top at other people expense?
Or maybe, the person couldn't express the words well, thus leading me to the wrong conclusion?
.
A dictator most of the time, laying down the jobs others are supposed to do, using "threatening" words (not that I really care about those threats) so that the jobs are done on time.
Always quick to criticise the work others have done, saying they are all rubbish, and it requires a lot of work to be done. Strangely enough, the person's work was never criticise by the person! Oh well, "Hail Hitler!!" Duh~
Always on the lookout for the relationship of people, much like observing the politics in the office, and quick to attack whoever is the weak link. Trying to bring the weaker ones down so that they will never recover? Perhaps~
Trying to emphasize how weak the weaker ones are, attacking their morale and self esteem, leading them to sink down to the the depths of hell.
Quick to eliminate competition, brushing them aside so that the person will emerge the top.
.
Am I thinking too much? Maybe, maybe not. But I truly hope that the person is not a hidden devil in the making, else it will be dangerous...extremely dangerous....

Presentation Day

Well, tomorrow will be my turn to do a presentation for the group. But, truthfully speaking, I really cannot present la!! I think I am gonna be slaughtered for tomorrow. Haha~ *hmm* Tomorrow will be the first time this semester that I will be waking up at 6am in the morning!! *sigh*

TAG

Hmm, got tagged by Gera, well here goes... (Haha, you really know when to choose a good time to tagged me lor, I just finished my last term paper like yesterday.....)
.
Rule of the game:-Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own 10 weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you must choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks!
.
  1. I have never been early before for my 1st lesson in school for the whole of this semester. Simply amazing right?
  2. I like things to be kept in a orderly manner. Whenever I saw things in a mess, I will feel jittery and have a urge to keep them straight.
  3. I don't really like to wear jeans, just a feeling that I cannot keep all the things close by my side and have to be in my bag. But well, since engineers have lab days, jeans are always the number 1 preferred choice.
  4. Up till now, I still don't know the routes of the internal buses that ply NUS. So what to do when I have to get to science or arts? Walk lor.. haha, but luckily, science still have Bus 95 to take.
  5. I have quite an accurate 6th sense, to the point that my guesses are correct most of the time.
  6. Movie watching is one of my favourite passtime, but since school starts, I have been so busy that I have missed a lot of good movies.
  7. I am quite particular over small little details, so if I get on your nerves sometimes, sorry la.
  8. I have lost touch with DOTA since last semester. THAT is something weird, how on earth can that happen??
  9. When I am in stress mode, what I have said does not really make any sense, so don't take me seriously.
  10. I am often being associate with a Kangaroo ever since primary school. (not that I mind, haha, they are quite cute, you know...) :)
Hah, now is the time to choose the sway ones.. hmm , neh... I will leave it open. Whoever wants to do this, please go ahead. Ok, time to hit the bed~

The Channel Tunnel (La Manche)

Did you know ......
  • Napoleon is to have discussed a channel tunnel - with a mid channel artificial island "to breath the horses" - in 1802.
  • The tunnel is 31.35 miles long, connecting Folkstone, England and Sangatte, France.
  • 24 miles of the tunnel lies underwater, with an average depth of 150 feets below the seabed.
  • The tunneling machines were so large that they spanned more than two football fields and weighed 1200 tons each.
  • The project employed approximately 15000 people.
  • Estimated in 1959 to cost $100 million, the actual cost of building was $15 billion upon completion in 1994.
  • The Chunnel carries 10 million tons of freight and millions of passengers annually.
  • The travelling time between Paris and London has been reduced to 140 minutes.
  • The Chunnel was 700 times more expensive than San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.

Yes, yes I know, after spending 3 whole day on this blood vomiting term paper, sleeping every night at 3am, feeling zombie-liked in school. End product: 4 pages long, 1982 words. Great......

March - A month of cultural immersion

To wrap up the whole month of March, it is really a pleasure to immerse myself to the cultures all over the world. First of all, we had the March Odyssey by the NUS Chinese Orchestra. An unforgetable odyssey indeed
Next, we had In Tempo 2007 by the NUS Wind Symphony
Amparito Roca!! Amazed by how literally "Always Smaller" is shown.
Lastly, One Step at a Time by CAC sub-clubs

Slowly but Surely, one step at a time
Impressed by D'Hoppers, Voices and Guitar

CAC+US 29/03/07

A beautiful night immersed in a sea of beautiful songs and dances, of course not to forget, in support of our main star of the night. Let us welcome, Mr...... "Pok" hah~
