Brave

Synopsis: In Scotland, stories of battles and legends have been passed through generations. Merida (Kelly Macdonald), a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), is determined to prove her worth. After ignoring an age-old custom sacred to Lords MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane), Merida inadvertently causes controversy and chaos in the kingdom. When Merida turns to an eccentric witch (Julie Walters) for help, a curse is inflicted on her. She must now save the kingdom from the curse, and in doing so, discover the true meaning of bravery.
.
Not exactly the story I expect it to be and I wonder how exactly the movie ties in with the theme of bravery? There are not much of fighting with any enemies with the exception of escaping an angry bear. Though there are a few touching moments, and the graphics are realistic but the title of the movie just seems plain wrong. In summary, the movie is pretty average with not much of excitement.

Total Recall

Synopsis: For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man as he finds himself on the run from the police. [Source: Yahoo! Singapore Movies]

Which is real, which is made up? What if everything that you believes in turns out to be only a screen? The movie itself is confusing for the first 60 minutes. I cannot make out what is going on as the common factory worker is turned into the No 1 fugitive in the colony. The title does not really fit the theme of the movie as there is minimum recall of any sort. The only consolation is the constant battles with the police forces. Can give this movie a miss unless you have run out of option of what to do for the day.

The Dark Knight Rises

Synopsis: In what is being reported as the conclusion to the rebooted Batman trilogy by director Christopher Nolan, Oscar-winner Christian Bale ("The Fighter") leads an all-star cast again while helming the dual role of Bruce Wayne / Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle / Catwoman; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. The film sees Gotham City 8 years later since the events in "The Dark Knight", overrun by gangs and Batman's return after a long absence to confront a new villian, Bane, and the latters plans to destroy the city. This has been a much anticipated movie worth waiting for. I will go as far as to say that this trilogy brought a wonderful ending to the batman journey, but not the ending though. It introduce a new character but leaves the viewer wondering, is there ever going to be a batman 4? Throughout the 165mins, the movie touches on the emotional part of the audience and show that batman is only human and is susceptible to failures. However, as the movie title suggest, batman will rise again to battle the villain through a series of high adrenaline action scenes. A great movie worth catching at all cost.
