Norway Day 4 - Aurora Borealis (2nd Night) + Exploring Tromsø

18 Nov - We were not so lucky during the second night of light chasing. Firstly, there was a storm front coming in from the coast and the sky was getting cloudy, and secondly, it was forecast that the whole Scandinavian countries will be raining. Nevertheless, we hope for the best and boarded the bus for our second night of chasing lights.

We were lucky after all. The lights put on a good show quite early in the night

And it died down as the cloud starts rolling in

We had the remaining of the day free and decided to explore the city after we get some sleep when we arrived back to the hotel at 2am in the morning. With no time to be wasted, we hit the road some 6 hours later to cover as much of the city as possible.

Tromsø folkebibliotek - Their public library

Perspektivet Museum

The Arctic Cathedral

Panoramic view from the cathedral side

Fjellheis Cable Car Station

Too bad it was raining or else we will be playing snow at the top of the hill

To escape the cold, we spend most of our time in this cozy fireplace in the Fjellstua café at the top of the cable car station

And a nice pick rose dedicated to *mds*

Norway Day 3 part 2 - Fjords Excursion

17 Nov - After a overnight light chasing, we had to wake up early in the morning again for our fjords excursion trip. Fjords are supposedly one of the must-see in the Scandinavian countries for their beautiful scenery. According to Wikipedia, a fjord is a long, narrow inlet with steep sides or cliffs, created by glacial erosion.

First sighting of the sun, though this might be the last sighting here for several months

Simply beautiful scenery

Sighting of whales during their feeding time

The fjords are simply breath taking

First encounter with real snow, and they are really light and fluffy

Frozen lake

Norway Day 3 part 1 - Aurora Borealis

17 Nov - First night chasing the light. It was indeed breathtaking seeing the natural phenomenon dancing right above our head. There is one very important virtue that you must have: Patience, as we will not know when the lights will appear.

The start of something amazing after about an hour wait

 And it appears!

Stretching across the whole sky

Dancing above our heads

And it died down after 2 hours

Norway Day 2 part 2 - Scouting Tromsø & Polaria Museum

16 Nov - After the museum tour, it was time for photo taking session again. We tried to make use of the last of the daylight to take pictures of the museum surroundings.

Beautiful Sunset by the bay

After our museum tour, we had to head to our pick up point for our dog sledging activity. I had never done this before, feeling excited, curious and hopefully, I won't fall off the sledge.

All geared up and ready for dog sledging

Getting ready with the dogs in position

Final check

And off we go

We have the opportunity to see some northern lights in action!

And a nice hot chocolate meal await us after an hour of freezing cold sledging in the snow
