Magical Kingdom Continued

After watching the performance in the main square, we proceed to explore some of the souvenir shops lining along the pavement.

In Magical Kingdom, at fixed hours of the day, there will be a parade of the Disney's cartoon characters. They are some sort like the Chingay parade you get in Singapore, except that they are more beautiful and more decorative with their cars.

If you ever go to Magical Kingdom, it is a must to watch their spectacular display of fireworks right before the park closes for the day. Trust me, you will be feeling like you are living in a fantasy land, awed by the different arrays and combination of fireworks you can think of, in addition to the blasting of the background music, all pieced and choreographed together to become a story! Amazing isn't it?

It is a pity that I did not film the entire firework display down as my camera did not have enough space that night. It is really a beautiful night worth remembering~

After the firework display is over, we hang around the park for about 1/2 hour to see another chingay parade, this time with the lights on the cars themselves.

With sad hearts, we left Magical Kingdom to proceed back to our hotel rooms as it was getting very late, wishing that someday, we will return to live the dream once all over again~

Florida Disney World Day 1 - Magical Kingdom

After spending 3 days in New York marvelling at the skyscrapers and their Broadway show, it is time to pack up our luggage and be on our way again. This time, we are heading to fantasy land, that is the Disney World at Florida, where a million dreams come true.

By the time we arrived at the hotel that we are staying, it was already very late. After checking into the rooms, four of us just head straight to bed, resting our tired body in preparation for a more grueling day tomorrow~

New York Day 2

Entering the second day of our New York tour, we decide to visit several of the important landscape in the city. Sensing that we might encounter long queues at the later part of the day, we head off to the Empire State building first thing in the morning. Our gut feeling did not let us down this time as we soon found out that people are not only queueing outside the building, but on the inside as well. Haha, as we had already purchased our ticket online, we just "jump queue" and head off straight to the lift, much to the disgust of the poor souls who are still queueing up~ Thanks Pok for buying and booking the tickets for us~!

We spend quite a few hours on top of the Empire State building, busy taking pictures of the skyline of New York and pouring through some of the souvenir shops that are found nearby.

Some interesting facts about Empire State Building

1) Construction completed in 1 Year 45 days, at a rate of 4.5 stories per week. (Are they rushing somewhere?)

2) 4000 men were employed per day

3) 60,000 tons of steel, 10,000,000 bricks, 2.5 million feet of wires, 120 miles pipes, 1860 steps and 73 elevators operating at speed up to 427 meters per minute. (your ears may experience some discomfort due to the rapid change in pressure.)

4) 200,000 cubic feet of Indiana limestone were used. (They are indeed rich!)

5) Initial estimated cost: $50 million. Actual final cost: $41 million.

6) Renovation cost over the past 10 years: $100 million. (Hmm, they might as well tear the building down since it is so hard to maintain it, and it is draining so much resources. :P)

After visiting the Empire State Building, we decided to walk along the famous Broadway to experience New York. Pok and YL were soon preoccupied with the Abercrombie & Fitch shop somewhere down the street while my attention was drawn towards this World of Disney shop.

However, soon, it was 630pm. We had to rush all the way down to a little street off Broadway to catch the highly acclaimed Les Miserables!! The whole opera was so fantastic!! The acting was perfect, the singing was very nice so much so that I want to look for all the songs featured in it! The $60 that was paid was indeed worth every cents spent~

New York Day 1

New York, New york.... One of the busiest city in USA. Everywhere I go, people are rushing from point A to point B, few people are willing to stop to help someone in distress. I believe this is the evolution of society. The more built up a city is, the more cold its people get. I shall say that I did not really get a good impression of New York. Take for example our first day there. Because we are carrying 3 bags a person, we are having difficulty transporting our luggage to our hotel by "bus 11". If this was Sandusky, I can say that there will be people who are kind enough to give us a ride to the hotel. BUT, no...... not here. No one bother to offer a helping hand. Even if there is, (and there really is one) HE expect us to offer him some coffee money for his help when he has just help us to carry our luggage like 20 meters?? I am like.. what the ****? Where is the spirit of helping a person from the bottom of your heart? Apparently, most of this is lost in those New- Yorkers. This is really so saddening... This is not the end of the ugly side of the city. When night falls, the street can get pretty eerie and dangerous. That is where beggars start coming out to play. I remember that we are having our night snacks in one of the Burger Kings places. Once I have finished ordering and just receive my change, I got a tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I saw a ugly, dirty old beggar wanting some money from me. Wow! That really freak me out. They can walk into the shop and beg and still hang around in the shop???? That is really a culture shock for me. That happens not once but every night when we had night snacks in any of the places.

Well, enough of complains. I still had lots of fun touring New York, special thanks to Poks handy research~ I have saw the financial district of New York City, the Statue of Liberty, Broadway show: Les Miserables and been on top of the Empire State Building! Believe me, the Broadway show are totally awesome!!!! Well, below are some of the selected photos, enjoy touring New York!
