Japan Day 6 part 1 - Onward to Kawaguchiko

08-May, approximately 0830 - Tokyo Skytree, the tallest tower in the world that is scheduled to open on 22-May. A pity that we were in Tokyo 2 weeks early, or else we could have given this iconic structure a visit. We left our hotel early to catch a train to Kawaguchiko, which is located in a prefecture just next to Tokyo. Nothing really special there, except for the roller coaster theme park (Fuji-Q), which is located near the base of Mt Fuji. We can't wait to ride the coasters again!
We travelled from Shinjuku to Otsuki....
And transfered to the Fuji-kyuko line which will bring us up the slope to Kawaguchiko.
A train ticket of about 30mins ride cost us 1110 yen (SGD $17.07). Transportation is expensive in Japan.
The train route that will carry us up the mountain.
And the train that we will be boarding is the Thomasland train!

Mt Fuji - Hiding behind the mist

Finally, we reached our destination, Kawaguchiko, located 857m above sea level!

The great lake of Kawaguchiko.

Scenery around the train station

The hotel - Kawaguchiko Station Inn which we will be spending our 2 nights.

As it was still early to check in, we deposited our luggage at the reception desk and went back to the station to take more photos.

Feeling hungry, we settled at a shop next to our hotel to have our lunch. I ordered a local dish from the menu, which looked something like the Chinese hot pot. Surprisingly, with all the vegetables (which I couldn't identified) added in, the food taste good!
