To SU or not to SU?

After much pondering, I have decided not to exercise my SU since the difference is only 0.009 CAP. Also, I have decided not to do a review of paper. Why? Ehh, I have mistaken ESE3401 as the solid and hazardous waste module~ *faint*

Year 3 Semester 1 result

Hmm, another semester of CAP improvement, and that makes it the 5th semester on the rise? Well, overall I am glad that my CAP has continued to improve and it has just cross the 3rd class honours barrier, but still, it is a bit lower than what I expected. Well, I shall continue to work hard and hopefully, I can reached the 2nd lower honours by the time I graduate~

.

Semester CAP: 3.5 / 3.625 (if I SU)

.

Cheer up~ =)

4L BBQ

It was once the time of the year again, where the traditional 4L BBQ will take place at boss house. So the "made" event organiser for the year, Fabian, managed to summon a team of highly committed members to go down to Bedok NTUC to buy food and help to carry them back. Unfortunately, due to some technical reasons, I cannot be there to help out at the stipulated time. Nonetheless, I volunteer myself to do the hard work of starting the fire as a punishment~
. See.. Starting fire can be so fun!! However, there is one side effect: Aching arm the next day
Happily eating the BBQ food. The chicken wings are cut by both me and Fabian so as to facilitate the eating process later. Better thanks us lor~
.
The personnel whom are present at the BBQ: PW, Fabian, me, ZH, XR, LH, KL, Edna and ZY, who will be arriving later. I guess this will make up more or less the people who will be coming for the upcoming BBQ in Chinese New Year (not really confirmed yet)? Normally, there will be a gift exchange session during the Christmas day BBQ, but for this year, due to the lack of time and lukewarm response, the exchange session was scraped. However, KL did not get the message and went ahead to get a gift. Hmm... how?? Nevermind, still can keep it for next year gift exchange right?? *lol*
.
Got a little surprise from XR!! He brought me a box of chocolate cookie all the way from Japan!! Thanks bro!! Haha, don't know nice a not, I still haven't open the box yet. *opps*
.

After we are sick of the food, we proceed to play the game Taboo. It is a long story how Taboo came to be the class game of the year. According to some witnesses, the origin is said to be at the Settlers Cafe one fine night, when the people went crazy over who will be the 老鼠屎!For us people who has been brainwashed by science, for a simple term such as sugar, we can used the complicated term C6H12O6 to described!! Power right?? It was fun, and we shouted all the way until... someone from the HDB opposite us started to shout at us to lower down our volume. *opps*
.
Accompany *mds* to her church today. The pastor was very good, not like those dry preaching session experienced in my secondary days where it will just drove us students to sleep. Hope *mds* has a good dinner at Astons. Sleep well and sweet dreams, *mds*~ =)

Alvin and the chipmunks

Synopsis: Based on the 1980s cartoon series about a music group of chipmunks comprised of mischievous group leader Alvin (Ross Bagdasarian Jr.); the tall and quiet Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler); and chubby, impressionable Theodore (Jesse McCartney). The three chipmunk brothers are adopted by a songwriter named Dave (Jason Lee) and with his help, the Chipmunks skyrocket to musical fame. However, in comes scheming greedy agent Ian (David Cross). He tries to lure the Chipmunks away from their concerned father figure, Dave, with the promise of fun, fortune and fame. Will they fall for Ian's villainous plans or stay loyal to trusty Dave?
.
I feel that this movie is just ok, definitely not the best I have seen this month. There are attempts by the movie producers to make the chipmunks cute, but I guess it quite of back fired on them. The plot wise is of the standard Hollywood template, nothing spectacular or twists in the end. For about 10 minutes in the middle of the movie, it lost my attention to continue on watching. There is something good about the movie though: The Christmas song sang by the chipmunks in the movie is very nice and catchy, and that push up my rating for this movie by one! So if you are looking for a nice plot of movie to watch and not a song lover, it is best to give this movie a skip.

2nd ICT Training (724 GDS)

I am just back from my 2nd ICT!! Yes finally, I see some form of civilisation at last. Though it was very tiring, nevertheless, let me recount what shit load of hell I have just gone through...
.
Day 1
Nothing much of concern. In process, CO parade and then taking over the store. The facility in Jurong camp 2 is much much better than that eons years old Tanjong Gul Camp. New buildings, functioning toilets and new beds!! Administration and accommodation side was super impressive. Have the Army finally shade its old habits of ineffectiveness and "bo chap-ness" and decided to let NSmen live in better condition?? We shall see in the days to come....

.
Day 2
Cannot stand my feet rotting in my boots any longer, so I decided to head down to the Medical Center to report sick to get some medicine to kill off those fungus growing on my skin. Well, army is still army. The medical center let me wait from 8am to 1pm just to see the Medical Officer, simply a waste of time!! Don't they know that I still have lots of store to prepare?? In the later part of the day, there is familiarisation of motorbikes and underslung training. Luckily for us, the rain stop us to do further damage to the bikes. Taking off the crash bar is easy, but fixing it back, is another story. Another slack day so far....

Day 3

Live underslung operation! Whenever bikers like us heard the word underslung, all of us will start to go crazy. Why? Because this means 2 hours to take off the crash bar, 0.5 hours to net up the bike, 0.5 hours to pray that nothing will be damage or dented when the bikes are lifted up and another 3-4 hours to mount the crash bar back, that is provided that we can mount it back to its original position, which 99.9% of the time, we can't! Heh heh, luckily, we escape the live task this time round, but we did see the motars and jeeps in action of being lifted up by the chinooks and super puma below!!

. Super Puma in action

Chinook doing air lift and drop

.

Day 4

CCAC, another word that all scouts hate and fear to hear. Why? Because this will means that we have to start poking each other using the Yakut size needle to inject saline solution. If your buddy is a bo-bo shooter... all the best to you. Pray that you will not get a big "orh ceh" at the end of the ordeal...

.

The IV setWith the super big needle .

Day 5
Preparing of store and mounting of TES set for the Company Mission Exercise. After 3 years of studying, my combat fitness drops to almost none. Plus they are using the old 10 kg 940 signal set instead of the newer 7 kg 940-A set, there is only one sentence I can say: "May the force be with me!!"

I don't know am I sway or what? For the 2 years of my NSF life, I have not encounter any snakes in the jungle before. But for this ICT, I encounter 3 snakes in fact!! The first time was at Lam Kiong Helicopter site where we see the live 2 hours animal planet of a frog battling a snake! In the end, the frog unethically won because of human intervention. The 2nd time was at the Company Mission Exercise in Marsiling area. As we were bashing through a track, we were stun to see a stick hang in the middle of an open patch. Upon closer inspection, it is actually a snake in a ready to strike position!! A close call in fact because I cannot foresee what will happen if we walk through the snake killing range...The 3rd will be in the BME mission, where one of my commander is bitten by a snake in the middle of the night. His whole hand is swollen but luckily no fatal injury happens to him.

Day 6
Book out and book in on the same day. Sian...

.

Day 7 - 9

Battalion Mission Exercise. Weather forecast: raining for most area of Singapore. Result: wet uniform, wet boots, mud ground, no sleep, hungry mosquitoes. This is really testing us on survival of the fittest.

Back from Hell

Yes!! I am finally back to civilisation after 10 days of touring in hell. I guess the best thing I need now is some rest and sleep!! Surviving 3 days with only 3 hours of sleep, living in pools of mud as our observation post, plus the never ending rain simply drives our morale down to the bottomless pit, not to forget, the LCK commando mosquitoes that are out to draw our blood. Oh well, next ICT will be in June 2008. Till then, we shall see each other again....

Happy Birthday to you

Happy belated birthday to YL! Went to Regent Heights yesterday for her small birthday celebration. The food was nice, particularly the bee hoon, the curry and the chocolate!! But, nice food finished fast, the chocolate was gone by the time I went for the 2nd round. *hmm* Hope you like the presents we give you. =) 2 more days to ICT.....
.
Bukit Batok was indeed quite challenging to get to. Oh well... *lol*

Out of tune, out of touch

Went to K box Marina with mds, Jun Quan and Jenny yesterday. To my expectation, I am out of touch with the singing world and horribly out of tune when I sing. There are so many unfamiliar artists and songs on the list la, and the choice that I can picked is... limited. *lol* Sorry for having to bear with my horrible voice. *opps*

Enchanted

Synopsis: Featuring an all-star cast, the film follows the beautiful princess Giselle (Amy Adams) as she is banished by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon) from her magical, musical animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day New York. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate on a 'happily ever after' basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) who has come to her aid - even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince (James Marsden) back home - she has to wonder: can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
.
It is the season to be jolly, shalalalala.... *yay* mds finally has finished her last paper yesterday, so its time to relax our tired body and mind after spending the last two weeks preparing hard for exams. We went to catch the movie Enchanted, hoping to be enchanted by the movie and spent some quality time together since I will be locked up in Jurong Camp 2 later and will not be able to see her unless I decided to go AWOL. Haha kidding, I wouldn't dare do that to break the law.
.
Ok, about the movie, I find that this must be one of the best movie I have seen so far for the last 6 months. Totally enjoyed every inch of it from the start to finish. Though not the typical movie you will find (Disney tried to mix animation and reality together in a nice blend), you will find joy in watching how the prince and princess act out in the real world, how they will sing, command the birds and little creatures and in the process, making a few laughing stock out of it. Oh, there was also the cute and adorable chipmunk too!!! Seeing how it tried to act out what it is trying to say since it can't speak in the real world, unlike in the cartoon. There was also the evil stepmother and witches to complete the whole movie. The ending was also particularly nice, but I shall not reveal too much, haha, a nice twist of Cinderella and sleeping beauty. :)

Of bridges and bridges

Ever wonder why there is a overhead bridge building frenzy around Tampines since 3 months ago? Below are several possible reasons I have managed to come up:
  1. The government have too much money and they decided to spend it so as to show that they are indeed doing something for the people.
  2. To save on electricity bill since oil prices have been going up non-stop.
  3. To appease the driving population who have been complaining of too much traffic lights in Singapore.
  4. To force the population to do some work-out to cut the percentage of population overweight.
  5. To make it to the Guinness world record for the most overhead bridges per square kilometer.

Why am I complaining? Because I have to carry a 5 kg stuff up and down the bridge today when they decided to tear down the traffic light crossing. *Argzz*
