Korea - The land of the Kim Chi and mountains. 1st time traveling on a tour package on the hindsight of potential language barrier if *mds* and I were to go on a free and easy alone. The tour started on a midnight flight out of Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2. The people on our tour were mostly couples, with the exception of 1 mother & son and 1 family consisting of father, mother and daughter. Not too bad, hopefully everything will went on smoothly.
After a grilling 6 hours flight, we finally arrives in Korea Incheon International Airport. "Anyo Haseyo!!
The airport is not too bad, eay to navigate and at least they have English translation.
But when we went out of the air-port, its all Korean!!
First stop: The Kim Chi Making School, where we will learn the traditional way of making Kim Chi!
The above are the ingredient, mainly cabbages soaked in salt water and their spices. Dump everything together, mix them, let it ferment for a week and bravo, you have your Kim Chi!
Graduate of the KimChi School
Some of the different varieties of Kim Chi. You have your Sotong flavour, fish cakes, etc
Nutritional Values of Kim Chi. Coupled with the Korean Ginseng eating culture, they form a deadly alliance such that they are the one of the few Asian country spared from SARS.
Main ingredients found in Kim Chi
Room set for the next batch of students. =)
After the Kim Chi making lesson and photo taking in Korea traditional hanbok, we moved on for a mini tour of their local market: Danong Mart. Be amazed at the amount of varieties of chili that they sell.
Lunch: A taste of Korea Bak Kut Teh. The soup has more flavour than the Singapore version, but mush lesser meat... =( In the end, a good but not full meal.... Next, boarding a plane to Jeju Island from Gimpo Airport.
A country which is 70% mountains, here is a good view of one of their mountain range.
Surprising, *mds* and I managed to find a beautiful grass patch near the mysterious road
Mysterious Road - An attraction where water mysteriously flow uphill. Vehicles are also known to defy gravity and moves up even with their engines shut!
Interesting architecture. Does this looks like a common toilet to you?
Dragon Head Rock formation - Another attraction of the Jeju Island
Beautiful View on the way up the slope
Dinner - More Kim Chi, vegetables and sea weed soup. When can I have more meat??? Sigh....
Managed to end the day with a beautiful sunset.
