Taiwan Day 3 part 2 - 紙箱王, 逢甲夜市

07-Apr - After spending close to 2 hours taking photos and walking around the lavender cottage, we are done with it and proceeds to our next destination: 紙箱王. Along the way, our friendly taxi driver stopped by another eatery selling mushroom theme food, which happened to be the local produce around the area. Needless to say, the eatery became our third unplanned stop.

During our time there, the cherry blossom season was just coming to an end. Fortunately, we still managed to catch a glimpse of some of the remaining trees that are flowering.

After another hour of car ride, we finally arrived at our next destination: 紙箱王 (Carton King). As its name suggest, Carton King is a unique shop specializing in displaying exhibits made out of cartons. All the displays in the area are solely designed and made by the shop. The carton exhibits can be in the form of building structures, animals and even chairs that human can sit on.

One interesting point is that part of the admission ticket price can be used to offset purchases inside the compound. As it is getting dark, we decided to use this offer to the fullest by having our dinner there. After dinner, we head off to our final destination for the day: 逢甲夜市. In terms of size, I think that this night market in Taichung rivals that of 士林夜市 in Taipei. Shop variety wise is almost similar like our Bugis style shop - mostly selling women clothing.

After touring for about 30 minutes, as our contracted time with our taxi is almost up, we decided to call it a night and took the taxi back to our hotel.
